Objective:
The Ethnographic Family Research Project is designed to help you develop a deeper understanding of family structures, dynamics, and roles through first-hand observation and interaction. You will conduct an ethnographic study of a family (which could be your own or another family with their consent) to explore how sociological concepts and theories manifest in real-life family experiences.

1. Select a Family for Study:
Choose a family that you have access to for observation and interviews. This could be your own family, a friend’s family, or another family that agrees to participate.
Ensure that the family is diverse enough in structure or experience to allow for a rich sociological analysis (e.g., multigenerational household, single-parent family, blended family, immigrant family, etc.).
